rafael

you were my
brilliant angel
of literature
ambassador to the world
40 phone calls and texts a day
agent
rife with wit, sorrow, knowledge
and everything an unwanted latino boy
could give to a little indian girl
with a dead daddy
why did you keep secrets
lies of omission are still lies
you became
father of everything
i am and will become
but
you got greedy
you stupid fuck
california holding a knife to the throat
of everyone who loves you
i survived you with a sneer
i’m sorry i’m so southern
and still i miss you
the way a victim does
awaiting your
new released wrath

Lie to everyone except your physician & your attorney. My little brother once told me “tell people what they want to hear because they do not want your opinion nor the truth.” He died within the next eight months & that’s the truth.
